§ 16-540. Drainage requirements.

Latest version.
  • (a)

All stormwater shall be managed by the property owner so that it shall not exceed the predevelopment rate of discharge from the lot being developed as set forth in section 6-59 and G.S. ch. 15A and 15A NCAC 02H .1000.

    (b)

Material such as pervious concrete is a desirable material to use in place of impervious surfacing materials, and its use is encouraged where impervious materials are allowed. The use of concrete waffle design blocks, or other types of systems that have large openings for stormwater to pass through are recommended. Pervious concrete may be used for driveways when properly installed, however no more than ten percent of any lot may be covered with pervious concrete (do not use any public right-of-way in the calculation). (See sections 6-264 and 6-265). Pervious asphalt is not approved for use where pervious surfaces are required, due to its tendency to soften in summer heat, allowing it to compact when driven on.
