§ 16-593. Institutional signs.

  • Signs erected by schools, churches, hospitals, governmental buildings and other institutions are permitted in all districts, but the size of any such signs shall not be in excess of 20 square feet. If such sign is freestanding, no part of the sign shall be closer than ten feet to any public right-of-way in any district, except the B-1 district, in which case no part of the sign shall be located within any public right-of-way. Such sign shall not be closer than ten feet to any other property line and shall not project higher than six feet above ground level. If the sign is a wall sign, it shall not project higher than 20 feet above ground level or the maximum height permitted in the district; but, in no case shall any part of the sign project above the roof line of the building upon which it is located.
