§ 16-585. General requirements.

  • (a)

    No sign of any type or any part thereof shall be erected, painted, repainted, posted, reposted, placed, replaced or hung in any zoning district, except in compliance with these regulations.

    (1)

    Except as authorized in section 16-587, no sign may be erected or displayed without a permit from the zoning administrator/building inspector.

    (2)

    Every application for a permit shall be submitted on forms which may be obtained at the office of the zoning administrator/building inspector. Each application shall be accompanied by plans which:

    a.

    Indicate the proposed site by identifying the property by ownership, location and use;

    b.

    Show the location of the sign on the lot in relation to property lines and building, zoning district boundaries, right-of-way and existing signs; and

    c.

    Show size, character, complete structural specifications and methods of anchoring and support.

    (b)

    If conditions warrant, the zoning administrator/building inspector may require such additional information as will enable him to determine if such sign is to be erected in conformance with this division.
